I am normally pretty quick to jump on the band wagon when it comes to new technology and new ways of communication but for some reason the blogosphere never appealed to me. I have had friends tell me to get a blog and I have been entertained as I read other's blogs but it just seemed to me to be one more distraction to go along with Facebook, GChat, and text messages. A distraction that I most definitely don't need.
But since I am on here now posting this first blog post you may ask, "what made you cave?"
Without sounding too dramatic or too self important the thing that pushed me over was the protests that are happening in Iran. Twitter and blogging have become the lifeline of that revolution. Whether the protests in Iran lead to lasting change or not the fact remains that the digital age beat the censorship. A regime as oppressive and cruel as the theocracy in Iran could not quiet the roar of blog posts and twitter updates.
I do not see myself or this blog ever becoming a beacon of freedom or a tool of revolution but I do hope it gives me a voice in the world and a place share some of my ideas.
So without further ado this is my first blog post on my first blog.
